Lighting the Flame Aries Solar Eclipse April 19/20 in Ashwini Nakshatra

The Sun and Moon merge at 5° of Aries in the presence of Rahu and a stationing Mercury.

Eclipses are markers of change, the end of a chapter and the need for focus to begin the next. The concentration of energy brought onto Aries by the Moon, Sun, Rahu, Mercury, and Saturn’s aspect brings weight to this eclipse lighting the flame of a new path.

Mercury begins its retrograde directly after the eclipse on the 21st, when Mercury retrogrades with Rahu is when we want to really pay attention. Mars and Mercury are contentiously stirring the pot, wanting to get something going through their exchange of energies between the signs of Aries and Gemini. Jupiter is crossing a knot of transition (Gandanta point) making it unstable until the 26th of April.

Tremendous heat is activated in the area of domination and willpower for us both individually and as a collective. The combination of Jupiter, Rahu and retrograde Mercury indicates potential volatility in the markets. The signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius will be the focus areas for us all for the next several months, themes of deliberate focus and attention. Jupiter and Rahu activate the natural dharma trine which shows quite positive influence for us.

Rahu is naturally a force of moving forward, it wants to sharpen the lens on the thing that is most desired. It is a highly intelligent energy that seeks advancement and possession. To hunt fearlessly what you seek and become one with it. Rahu is much like a cat that likes to play with things, to crush them with a blinded focus and then just as quickly drop it unless it starts to move again,  it can feel like torture if we allow the energy of confusion to drag us around, but it can become mastery when we understand what we desire most.

As you learn to refine a one-pointed (Rahu) and focused (Mars, the host of the eclipse) you will reap significant gains especially when Jupiter settles in Aries.

Aries is associated with action, the question becomes the action of what? Ask yourself, what are you chasing or what will you hunt? What will take you in a loop or what will become yours?

Mars the ruler of Aries has tremendous drive and power. Rahu acts like the aperture of our lens where we can heighten our senses through our focus. Remember that it was Rahu who had the ability to see through the trick of Vishu at the churning of the ocean and get himself at the feet of Vishnu.

Ashwini is not a contemplative Nakshatra nor is it cruel, It is the epitome of ‘ready or not here we go’. Ashwini has a deeply embedded need to be inspired and to be in a place or a position where it can be seen, yet remain free, rebelling when feeling contained or controlled.

Take care of your nervous system, and pay attention to your feet (Ketu). The root of the Eclipse is found in Ketu this is a big clue.
