The Rashi also known as the Sun Signs
In Jyotish or Vedic astrology the signs are called Rahis, ‘the shine of light’. The Rashi’s are the containers that carry the energy of the planet which rules it. The signs are containers for the consciousness of their ruler and holds all the resources it needs to feel at home and do its job.
The houses are our energy grids; they are the rooms that unfold the lessons of this life. The houses and signs combinations are not the same for each person. There are additional complexities to the make-up of your symphony and the tune it plays.
First of which is the planets which have relationships to each other. When planets that rule signs that do not support the function of the transiting planet its power becomes compromised.
For example if you have Saturn in the sign of Leo whose ruler is the Sun, Saturn's natural enemy it becomes compromised reducing its ability to do its job. Effectively the container of the sign is not supporting the planet's natural function nor will it support the character changes in these different spaces. For example Mercury in his own signs of Virgo and Gemini will have the tools he needs but once he enters into Pisces he has a functional problem known as debilitated.
Secondly the layout of your unique birth chart changes the quality of the planet's nature, for example: if you are a Cancer rising Jupiter becomes a functional malefic.
All of this adds layers to our tempo and patterning and must be considered, along with the Avastha of the planet, shadbala, yogas, planetary aspects and so on.
