Mars comes alive with intent on August 16th as he moves into Aries, activating a new phase of swift changes and directions. Throughout his stay, he will be looking at the sign of Cancer, Libra and Scorpio. 

Since the third week of June Mars has been in Pisces undirected and under pressure from Saturn. Mars will continue to move between Pisces and Aries through February of 2021, making his transit an interesting piece of cosmology.  Mars the physical aspect of action, direction and vitality his transit is revealing a lot.

The sign Pisces has no feet, it is the place where we merge, where we escape and where we retreat. Mars is a planet of action, in this zone Mars for the most part frustrated. In Aries, he is in his natural state empowered, directed and awakened, coming into force, responding to the call with swiftness and sometimes with overconfidence.

With all of the Fire signs awakened from the 17th and their rulers strong and un-afflicted, there is a tremendous force of initiation through mid-September. The fire is active and prominent in all of us now. Mars and Saturn will energise all of the cardinal signs of  Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn through October 5th creating shake-ups in dramatic ways. 

Mars' first entry into Aries will only see him reach 4° and then September 9th he will begin his retrograde, tracking back slowly to Pisces to retreat once again. Suggesting that through February of 2021 we will be in a phase of retreating and emerging a cycle of birth, death and rebirth, initiating and reconsidering what we are willing to fight for. 

Mars likes to solve problems, to fight and protect those he loves, he responds to the desires of Venus and is loyal to the king.  Mars will have his energies reinforced by Ashwini, a Ketu ruled nakshatra.  Here Mars is an active channel, where through Ashwini he is unwavering in his expression. 

Ashwini is a place of physicians (not necessarily healer) operating between the dusk and the dawn a hidden space of medicine, Mars himself is a skilled physician (surgeon, needles, weapons) this is where we can expect a roll-out of vaccines and vaccine tests.

From mid-August onward is a period of initiating new phases and making bold moves by our leaders. Mars and Ketu both represent the military and with the Sun moving into Leo representing authority and government and with Jupiter aspecting Mars expanding the energies of action and law, it suggests a return to being pushed under control and restrictions and our resistance to it. From now until February his transit indicates as a collective we will be in stages of retreat and emergence. 

On a personal level, Mars is awakening a potency source, that brings our inner potential out to manifest on the earthly plane. Mars brings us the opportunity to wield our power, the key for us is to do it with attention and direct it, not getting trapped into fear under our shared collective of unstable and challenging circumstances.

Mars’ long transit in between these two signs is a good opportunity to work on these areas activated within your chart.The power of Mars when channelled in a positive way helps us to create lasting monuments and amazing structures.
