The Full Moon of Guru Purnima July 3rd
Enlivened at its brightest point, the Full Moon of July 3rd celebrates Guru Purnima, a day dedicated to honouring teachers. These individuals have shaped our lives through the transference of wisdom—from our parents, role models, teachers, partners, and spiritual guides.
Occurring in the nakshatra of Purva Ashada, ruled by Apas, the deity of water, who draws in the ocean with a tendency to flood, this Full Moon emphasizes how we nourish ourselves and others. It stimulates us to develop our directional flow to open the path ahead and nourish the fields we have chosen to sow.
Both Mars and Venus are in the crossing from water into fire, known as Gandanta, shaking loose the fruits of karma that need to be released. This energy, combined with the potential negative aspect of flooding from Purva Ashada (taking over), can intensify a sense of pressure, either given to us or applied by us to others. A key point for emotional and personal boundaries.
The Full Moon is also aspected by both Rahu and Jupiter, magnifying the natural house of dharma, which seeks to release the fruits of your karma as the Moon creates your experiences through the Moons ‘‘eating and generating’’. Be mindful of your perspective and where it is directed.
Open yourself to receiving new possibilities, love, and trust in yourself.
I wish you abundant love and freedom in the Full Moon cycle.
